Editorial: Barbara Garcia: Fire Jonathan Vernick or Get Fired!

Dear Barbara:

You have a stark choice: Either do your job and fire Jonathan Vernick or Mayor Lee needs to fire you. For the last two years, you have supported the corruption of Jonathan Vernick. This can only lead one to ask “why?” The working assumption is that you are corrupt. To allay such a false impression you need to rid Baker Places of Jonathan Vernick and consider Jesse Ponce, a well-respected case manager at Baker to replace Vernick.

As you know, there is a contest, “Who would you like as your next executive director of Baker Places?” in which the rules ask that you announce the winner by April 3, 2017. See: Who Would You Like as the New Executive Director of Baker Places?” Vote Now! We hope you resolve the mess you caused by failure of oversight of Vernick.

If you choose to support the mismanagement of public funds, which your employee, Tom Mesa, acknowledged has occurred at Baker Places in an interview on April 7, 2016, then I will have to begin my public campaign against you with the public by distributing “Barbara Garcia—Go Fuck Yourself” flyers. Please do your job.

Dear Supervisor:

Jonathan Vernick, the executive director of Baker Places, lied to you. Please note that on October 12, 2016, a ceremony which was in part to honor Vernick’s agreed-to retirement from Baker Places, was held See:. Frontline eNews– October, 2016.

Also, according to the press release, dated June 21, 2016, "After October 31, BP’s executive director, Jonathan Vernick, who worked with the organization for 33 years, will transition from his current role to become a special advisor to the new PRC."

This “retirement” has been short-lived because he never left Baker Places.

According to a Private Investigator, Jonathan Vernick has stolen $100 million from the taxpayers of San Francisco over the past 25 years. What is the basis for this investigator’s claim?

 * Baker Places gets buildings donated to it via the Mayor’s Department of Housing and Development free of charge. These are buildings which are intended to house clients such as those who are HIV+.  After a few years the clients are evicted (usually under the pretext that the building is in need of repair) and then sold. This is what happened at 54-56 Francis Street in which 10 clients were evicted so that Jonathan Vernick could pay the IRS over $800,000 in back taxes. This misused of public funds, according to the investigator, has been going on for over 25 years. 

* According to the IRS 990s (forms nonprofits file), Baker Places has lost $3.4 million of the taxpayer’s money over the past 10 years.

* There are ongoing concerns about how the Ryan White Act funds are being used. There have been several reports that these funds have been used in an unlawful manner.

The investigator examined the above data points and extrapolated them over 25 years to reach the total of $100 million as the amount Jonathan Vernick has stolen from the taxpayers of San Francisco.  Please see the post on my blog, www.defundbakerplaces.blogspot.com : The Criminal Case Against Jonathan Vernick. 

The theft of public funds can have deadly consequences as out of the several dozen reports I have received about Jonathan Vernick, none have been more chilling than the following which was reported on April 11, 2016. I quote the letter verbatim and without commentary: 

Hello Mr. Petersen.

I just wanted to say that I think what you are doing is great and I hope you are successful. Jonathan Vernick is trying to cover up something terrible that has happened at a Baker Places site. On Thursday the 31st of March at the San Jose Place site, a client named Scott McGreevy died after he hung himself in his room. He didn't get medical attention in time because Baker Places deliberately under-staffs the sites so they can keep the extra money. Please tell people about this. Don't let them cover it up like they tried to cover up what they did to you.

Recommendation: Jesse Ponce is a well-respected case manager at Baker Places. He achieves rapport with a diverse population. Mr. Ponce will make an excellent new executive director of Baker Places.  Thus, I recommend that you communicate with Mr. Vernick that he needs to step down and allow Mr. Ponce to step up. If Vernick refuses to leave, then defund Baker Places.

Who Would You Like as the New Executive Director of Baker Places?” Vote Now!

Welcome to the second annual “Who would you like as the new executive director of Baker Places?” election. Last year’s contest (February 15, 2016) drew 50 responses and we are hoping this year will double the number to responses to 100. The rules will be the same as last year:

1. List three traits you think are important for the CEO of a nonprofit to have and list these in your reply to the director of Public Health, Barbara Garcia :barbara.garcia@sfdph.org.

Overview of the Jonathan Vernick Case and an Analysis

Brief Overview of Case:

On August 10, 2015, I, Harry Petersen, filed fraud charges against Jonathan Vernick with the rent board. See: Jonathan Vernick: Wrongful Eviction Charge.  

On June 15, 2016, the Baker Board met and agreed to merge with Positive Resources after listening to testimony showing criminal conduct of Jonathan Vernick. See:    Baker Places Board of Director’s Meeting on June 15, 2016: Reporter’s Notes.  The agreement was for Jonathan Vernick to step down as Executive Director of Baker Places and for Brett Andrews, the CEO of Positive to take over both groups.

According to the press releases of both groups, the transition was to occur on October 31, 2016. See:  Baker Places: Residential Treatment Centers  AND Positive Resource Center: Welcome. But Vernick has now reneged on this agreement and remains the Executive Director of Baker Places as the Baker website indicates.

 Analysis of the Situation:

There are several actors in this interesting situation:

 * Brett Andrews, CEO of Positive Resource Center—I encourage him and his group to go the members of the Board of Supervisors and see that Mr. Andrews is the Executive Director of the merged groups. Also, I would encourage them to confer with Barbara Garcia and demand the original agreement be upheld.

* Members of the Board of Supervisors—Two members who I would highly recommend contacting are Aaron Peskin and Jane Kim. Also, you can contact the supervisors who represents you in your district. See: www.sfbos.org.

* Barbara Garcia—She is a kind person who has worked hard to create a world-class Department of Public Health. However, she needs to be given some courage in dealing with the Trump-like psychopath of Jonathan Vernick. I strongly encourage readers to contact her at barbara.garcia@sfdph.org.

Next Step:

Reluctantly, I will have to publicly campaign against Barbara Garcia since she is the one with the power to do anything about Vernick. The supervisors will just refer me to her; Jonathan Vernick is impossible to deal with as what he really needs to a criminal indictment for his conduct over the past 33 years.  The campaign will consists of public flyers, reports on this blog, and conferring with various members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The Goal: The original agreement stated in the press releases on June 20, 2016 stands: Andrews takes over and Vernick leaves.

Original Model: “The Messianic Secret In the Gospel of Thomas”

This essay introduces an original insight to solve a vexing problem: The Gospel of Thomas  reveals two beings whose consciousness are different, call them J’ and J’’:

 1. The Jesus who believed he was the agent used by the Father to usher in the Kingdom of God in his earthly lifetime.

2. The Jesus who had mystical insights about higher realms of existence which could be accessed through gnosis.

The startling proposed solution to reconcile the two beings called, “Jesus”: The first Jesus is the pre-resurrected one who incorrectly believed God’s Kingdom on earth would be brought about in his lifetime while the second Jesus is the Resurrected Jesus who now knows who he is: God Incarnate or “God manifested in the flesh.” I call this insight the “messianic secret.” I strongly encourage Thomas scholars and other New Testament scholars to consider this original hypothesis as it will be a goldmine for a doctorate thesis. 

1. The first Jesus is the one most New Testament scholars accept: Jesus was a Jew from Galilee who was well-versed in the Jewish law, but wanted his followers to keep the Spirit of God’s law as well so that one combines “Spirit and Truth” in worship. Also, this Jesus preached the Kingdom of God is at hand:

 a. “Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the earth. But they do not know that I came to case dissention upon the earth: fire, sword, war” (Saying 16).

b.“The disciples said to Jesus: “Tell us what the kingdom of heaven is like” (Saying 20).

c. “The Kingdom of the Father is like…” (Saying 76).

The stark reality is Jesus was wrong. Why? Because these sayings were at the level of one who, while inspired by God, had not reached the Immortal Consciousness or the Resurrected Frequency. Thus many of the sayings in Thomas are concerned with the earthly plane of existence. 

2. The second Jesus represents the “secret sayings” which were recorded after his resurrection: “These are the secret words that the living Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomas wrote them down” (Prologue of the Gospel of Thomas). Note that the “living” Jesus is the resurrected Jesus. At this point, Jesus is ready to share his deeper mysteries to his followers: “Many times you have desired to hear these words, these that I am speaking to you…There will be days when you will seek me, and you will not find me” (Saying 38). Here Jesus is now ready to reveal the deeper mysteries which he shares will those who are worthy (Saying 61). 

3. The Resurrected or Living Jesus then knows who he is: A Child of the Living Father. His body has become an Immortal one. Thus, he shares some insights which might help the seeker find: 

a. In Saying 50, the followers of Jesus are told to respond to others who inquiry about them: “If they say to you, ‘where did you come from?’ then say to them, ‘We came from the light, the place where light came into existence by itself…”

b. In Saying 77, Jesus now knows he is God: “I am the light that is over all. I am the All…Spilt a piece of wood and I am there. Lift a stone and you will find me there.”

c. In Saying 83, we have a mystical insight into the light of the Father: “Images are visible to people but the light within them is hidden in the image of the Father’s Light. He will be disclosed, but his image is hidden by his light.”

4. Which Jesus is the Real Jesus? Both. On the earthly level, human beings need to treat others with honesty and respect (Saying 6), heal the sick (Saying 14), keep God’s Holy Day—the 7^th day of the week (saying 27); on the resurrected plane, Jesus is still being manifested in the physical body, but now knows he is the Messiah, the one chosen to share the hidden secrets of the Living Father.  And what was this secret? You can be Immortals as I am, right here, right now by being Resurrected with me (Saying 51). 

5. It was not until February 22, 2016 that this secret was revealed to the world: The Thomas Immortal Project is being used by God to share the Resurrected Jesus’ message—Physical Immortality, the Kingdom of God is here! The first step is to realize that you are being sourced by God. Even those who have so defiled God that they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit are still subject to God, even if they have given their life over to Satan (Saying 44). Thus, I extend the invitation to each reader: Study the sayings of Jesus and follow his commandments so that you might have eternal life (saying 19): “If you become followers of me and listen to my words…you will not taste death.”

6. The text, Psychic Vampires: Protection From Energy Predators and Parasites, by Joe H. Slate (See Amazon.com: Psychic Vampires: Protection from Energy Predators ...) is a popular introduction into the world of darkness. Here we find that energy vampires can steal your energy as can be seen via Kirlian Photography of the auras. They do this by intention and are able to drain the energy of others so that they are infused with the other people’s life energy. Apparently, these kinds of attacks are common and experienced vampires can control others by taking away other people’s psychic energy. If this is the case, then where does free will exist? This text supports the “Alien-Ego” Hypothesis which is a cornerstone of the Thomas Immortality Project: There appears to be dark energies which control mankind in order for them to eat your energy. I realize this hypothesis is scary but as truth seekers we must have courage!

7. The way out of this diabolical plot is by affirming the “Holy Prayer” each morning: “Father, have mercy upon me. Forgive me for all harms I have done to you, others, and myself. Please remove and protect me from all evil, traumas and demonic influences. Let me be Holy even as you as Holy! Thanks, God!” This said aloud and will activate the protection from psychic attacks. The Criminal Case Against Jonathan Vernick

The legal case against Jonathan Vernick started on August 10, 2015 with me, Harry Petersen, filing fraud charges against Jonathan Vernick and the San Francisco Rent Board. See: Jonathan Vernick: Wrongful Eviction Charge.  

 

It continued to June 15, 2016 to when the Baker Board of Directors agreed to merge with Positive Resource Center. See:   Baker Places Board of Director’s Meeting on June 15, 2016: Reporter’s Notes.

 

Note that according to press releases, both from Baker Places and Positive Resource Center, Jonathan Vernick was to be replaced as the Executive Director of Baker Places and Brett Andrews was to be the new CEO of the both organization by October 31, 2016. What has happened since October 31, 2016? According to Baker Places site, Jonathan Vernick remains the Executive Director. Thus, I assume the removal of Jonathan Vernick will not happen and thus will renew my public campaign against him. I start by reviewing the criminal case against him.

 

Brief Criminal Case Against Jonathan Vernick:

 

The problem with Baker Places is the lack of oversight of how it has spent the taxpayers’ money over the past 10 years. I have documented that according to IRS 990s, Baker Places has lost $3.4 million over the past 10 years: See Financial Documents and Information Prepared for Tom Mesa, a Representative of the Department of Public Health  post on May 7, 2016 for additional information.

 

The last time Baker Places was audited by the City and County of San Francisco was 2008. Because Baker Places is the largest recipient of taxpayers’ money as a nonprofit ($12 million annually), it should be audited every year. Please note that the 2008 audit found many problems with Baker Places adhering to commonly accepted accounting principles; See San Francisco Board of Supervisors: Defund Baker Places—Now!  for additional information.

 

Areas of concern:

 * Baker Places gets property donated by the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Development free of charge and then proceeds to sale the same said building in a few years. This is what happened to the building which housed about 10 clients at 54-56 Francis Street; Jonathan Vernick sold this building to pay back taxes to the IRS of over $800,000. This constitutes theft of public funds.

* There has been ongoing concerns about how the money from the Ryan White Act has been spent. Several reports have indicated that Baker Places has unlawfully used these funds. 

* One private investigator has looked at Jonathan Vernick’s dealings with Baker Places and has estimated that Jonathan Vernick has stolen $100 million from the taxpayers of San Francisco over the past 33 years while he has been associated with this group. 

* The funds which Baker Places is allotted by the taxpayers is comingled with Jonathan Vernick's private corporation. See : Jonathan Vernick Et Al v. Mynette Boykin :: Superior Court of ...for background info on Jonathan Vernick's private holding corporation. 

Baker Places lost $825,000 according to the IRS 990, 2013 form. Please see www.citizenaudit.org and type in Baker Places, Inc. to retrieve copies of the originals. In addition, I have used www.guidestar.org as a resource.  Note that these sites may now be for pay and thus may have limited access. On the average Baker Places loses $340,000 per year.

WHAT YOU CAN DO?

* Please contact your member of the Board of Supervisors at www.sfbos.org and tell him or her that Jonathan Vernick needs to be removed from Baker Places.

* Please contact anyone in the media who can help. In my view, this is a possible scandal which could involve public officials as well as many of Jonathan Vernick's enablers.

* Please contact Barbara Garcia, Director of Public Health at barbara.garcia@sfdph.org and let her know that Jonathan Vernick has not left Baker Places as was agreed. You might mention to her that there has been reports that Baker Places/Positive Resource Center has recently acquired property on Dolores Street via the Mayor's Office on Housing and Development. Why do they need another property when Baker Places has mismanaged the donated properties it already has received from the City?

"God, Let Me Be Holy...Even As You Are Holy! "

In our last post, Resurrecting With Jesus—Now!, we started with the goal: Physical Immortality through resurrecting with Jesus. Working backwards, we constructed the Immortal Will. In this post, we shall go backwards one step still, and offer some insights on the purification process. This is the means by which one is in right standing before God. It is starting over with a clean slate. The removal of traumas. The focus on the uplifting. Asking for God’s mercy. As one becomes pure one can become Holy even as God is Holy.

1.    The Holiness Prayer: “Father, have mercy upon me! Please forgive me for all wrongs I have done to you, others, and myself. Please remove all evil, traumas, and demonic influences. Let me be Holy even as you are Holy! Thanks, God!” 

2.    With the Holiness Prayer, we begin the purification process. The purpose is to be whole. Note that the purification process is an ongoing one and will be continued as long as necessary. It can be done with other processes such as constructing the Immortal Will and Resurrecting with Jesus. 


3.    The first part of the prayer, invites God’s mercy. This is your only chance. It is only because of His love that you are even alive. Give praise to God! 

4.   The second sentence asks for forgiveness. While I understand that there is no free will at the ego level, it is still necessary to act as if you were responsible because in this way we can create new structures or archetypes which will allow you to be clean. Please note this prayer is to God and I would not ask a human being for forgiveness as this opens up oneself to possible attacks from those who would use your words against you. When there is true forgiveness, the prior events are not recalled anymore and thus they are let go.  

5.  The third sentence asks for evil, traumas, and demonic influences to be removed from your being. Those who know about auras will know that these parasites will lodge in the aura, often turning it dark, and thus will require spiritual assistance. See: How To Read Auras: What Does Your Aura Color Mean? | Spirit of Ma'at.  Because the cause of the problem is an intra-psychic (between the various sub-personalities in your being) and inter-psychic (between you and outside entities), the medical community will be of no use; only in the most drastic case, would I recommend seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist as they are ill-equipped to handle evil.  Readers are invited to see my previous post, "Yes, Mommy, Please Fuck Me Up Some More!" for additional insights. 

6.    Because your connections with others will often mean your disconnection from God, you will need to eliminate the vast majority of relationships. “ Whoever does not hate father and mother cannot be a follower of me, and whoever does not hate brothers and sisters and bear the cross of I do, is not worthy of me”---Jesus, Saying 55, Gospel of Thomas. This command means the follower of Jesus will eliminate all ties to his parents and other family members. I would write each of them a handwritten letter explaining that you are a follower of Jesus and thus cannot talk or see them ever again. Wish your parents well and move on. If your connection to your parents are deep, then you will have to find a way out for what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his very own soul? Also, note if you are in any unholy relationship with others, you will need to follow Jesus and end it.

7.    The last part of the prayer asks for a heart opening. Here we humbly ask God to make us Holy even as He is Holy! Ask the Spirit of Truth to show you the next step in your journey to holiness. It may be cleaning your personal space as “cleanliness is next to holiness.” It may mean finding new relationships. Or it may mean taking all screens such as televisions, computers, and apple phones to the nearest recycling center (or otherwise dispose of them). Whatever God prompts you to do, do it--Now! 

8.    A requirement necessary to enter God’s Holiness is to honor God’s Holy Day, the 7^th day of the week. This means Saturday is a day of rest from the world and a focus on God. Rent a motel room for the day if you need to get away from the chaos of other people. This is a great day to meditate, ingest some marijuana, pray, and organize your life!

9.    The Holiness Connection is started each day through the Holy Vow: “Father, I give you everything—my life, my heart, my soul, my mind—my very being. Please give me the strength to do your will this day. Thanks, God!” This is said aloud the first thing each morning. Then invite the Spirit of Truth to guide you into God’s Holiness. A few minutes meditating on Jesus’ words in the Gospel of Thomas will be of major benefit in your quest for holiness. Then work on the purification process. This is a daily practice. As there is a Holiness Connection with God, one will be in right standing with God!

Other Notes:

10. Over the weekend, I took a college course, “Origins of Life,” by Professor Robert M. Hazen. See:  Origins of Life | The Great Courses. A key insight is that life require 3 things to exist:

a) a metabolic system,

b) reproduction,

c) evolution.

The difficulty for origin of life researchers is the “complexity problem.” In a nutshell: Logically, life must have started with some kind of reproduction of itself (via the double-helix DNA and transport systems such as RNA). But this sophisticated reproduction system requires a metabolic system. The metabolic system is a quite involved as it requires a means to input energy into the system and then use the energy to transport to various sites (ATP) and then dispose of the waste. Both systems must be operating in order for either to work. But the metabolic system and the reproduction system are fairly independent of each other and there is no working model which shows how these two could be fitted together separately since both are necessary for either to work. How to solve this problem?

11.  While origin of life researchers have not been able to solve this “chicken-and-egg” conundrum, I will propose the obvious Deus Ex Machina solution: At the foundational level, physical processes will have to go outside the system in order to give it the necessary first steps. By definition, God is the First Cause or if you like, the “causeless cause.” So I am taking a deist position and saying there had to be original watchmaker. But I go a step farther: Natural Law is a man-made construct which does work extremely well in most cases and is a good working hypothesis. However, there are many cases in which natural law will be violated such as Jesus being resurrection from the dead.

10) Jonathan Vernick Covering Up Death at San Jose Place, Reader Alleges

1) Jonathan Vernick, who is about 65-years old, has mild, but chronic memory loss consistent with Alzheimer's. Others around him know this but are protecting him. Why? Sources: Dozens of personal observations and statements by two individuals who have known him for years.


2) In the 2013-2014 fiscal year he lost over $822,000. out of a budget of $11.8 million. This should be a red flag that something is amiss. The Board of Supervisors need to demand some answers starting with the former CFO, Judith Stevenson. Source: IRS 2013-2014 990 form.


3) Jonathan Vernick defrauded a tenant out of over $200,000 by making a real estate trade but then later denying the exchange had taken place. Source:  Rent Board charge filed on August 10, 2015.


4) According to 2008 audit by the Controller's office of San Francisco into Baker Places, Inc., there is a consistent pattern of unwillingness or inability to following accepted accounting principles. Source: See 2008 audit with San Francisco's Controller's Office--I will link later.


5) Jonathan Vernick forged the name of the Chair of the Board, Nick Lederer on a document. I find this quite disturbing if true (and it is true) as it goes to the character of the this man.  The March 31, 2015 letter (as was the April 9, 2015) was written by Fancher Larson on his behalf and given to me. The signature for this Internet copy could not have been signed by Mr. Lederer since he knew nothing about the letter when I asked him about it.  Sources: Fancher Larson and April letter sent to Mr. Lederer.


6) Jonathan Vernick had 6 clients removed from 54-56 Francis Street by having case managers tell various lies about repair to the building (when in fact the building was being sold to make up over a $800,000 loss from the previous year). This is disturbing because Jonathan Vernick and/or his representatives have created a culture of deception. Source: Personal observations.
